GoodYear In 1839 Charles Goodyear is credited with inventing the process of "vulcanisation" which is used to cure rubber. The tyre company was formed in 1898 and the name “Goodyear” was given to it in honour of this historical scientific achievement.  As well as being one of the big three global brands, Goodyear is the biggest in North America.
