In 1839 Charles Goodyear is credited with inventing the process of "vulcanisation" which is used to cure rubber. The tyre company was formed in 1898 and the name “Goodyear” was given to it in honour of this historical scientific achievement. As well as being one of the big three global brands, Goodyear is the biggest in North America. Australian manufacturing started in the post second world war era, and has continued ever since.

Many local and imported car brands use Goodyear original equipment tyres. The range includes Eagle F1, NCT 5, Ducaro GA for cars and the Wrangler range for all terrain vehicles.

Eagle Assurance – Mid-tier Passenger All-Season tyre

The Assurance molds an all-season compound into a tread design featuring distinct zones. Inboard and outboard Dry Tread Zones feature strong shoulder blocks to enhance handling in dry conditions, while a central Wet Tread Zone features Dual Aquachannel grooves that evacuate water to promote traction in wet weather. A virtually continuous notched center rib combined with circumferential shoulder grooves blend dry road stability and even treadwear with traction in snowy conditions. The tyre's internal structure features twin steel belts (H-speed rated sizes are reinforced with spirally wrapped nylon belt edge strips) on top of a polyester carcass that enhances ride quality.
